Job Requirements

- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (proof of registration and diploma/certificate required).
- Current resume outlining employment history and three professional references.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C (including Infant CPR) certification.
- Current immunization records and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) Self-Test Certificate.
- Minimum of two years of management or supervisory experience in a licensed childcare setting.

Licensing & Regulatory Compliance

- Maintain correspondence with the Ministry and other regulatory agencies as required.
- Ensure compliance with all requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) and applicable regulations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of How Does Learning Happen? and other provincial guidance documents.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children, families, and staff by implementing and monitoring all centre policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all licensing requirements and prepare for licensing inspections.

Classroom Set-Up & Environment

- Work collaboratively with staff to establish and maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and nurturing learning environment.
- Monitor classroom organization, materials, and learning environments on a regular basis.
- Ensure classrooms meet licensing requirements and reflect high-quality early learning practices.

Staff Leadership & Classroom Support

- Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and support to educators.
- Conduct classroom observations and staff evaluations at least twice monthly.
- Work closely with educators to ensure curriculum implementation and maintain program quality.
- Foster positive working relationships among staff and community service providers.
- Ensure fair distribution of responsibilities among staff and address workplace concerns promptly.
- Promote a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment.
- Ensure current technology is used effectively for documentation, communication, and program administration.

Curriculum & Program Development

- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, Child Care Centre Licensing Manual,



and How Does Learning Happen?
- Develop and oversee programs that support children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Ensure educators provide meaningful opportunities for creativity through art, music, dramatic play, sensory experiences, and active play.
- Review children's documentation, observations, and program planning regularly.
- Conduct regular staff meetings.
- Ensure all staff participate in required professional development and ongoing training.
- Recruit, onboard, mentor, and evaluate employees.

Family & Community Communication

- Foster positive and respectful relationships with families and staff.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their children's development and well-being.
- Ensure daily reports and progress reports are completed and shared with families.
- Coordinate parent-teacher conferences and family engagement events.
- Address parent concerns professionally and in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community agencies and partners.

Supporting Children, Families & Staff

- Conduct tours for prospective families.
- Respond to parent inquiries regarding programs and enrolment.
- Organize open houses and community events.
- Observe children for developmental, behavioural, or learning concerns and collaborate with families regarding appropriate supports and referrals, when authorized.
- Support educators in developing and implementing Individual Program Plans (IPPs/IEPs) when appropriate.
- Assess children's interests, abilities, and developmental progress in collaboration with educators and families.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with professionals supporting children and families.

Management Responsibilities

- Lead monthly staff meetings.
- Oversee weekly staff schedules, attendance, and break coverage.
- Coordinate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance management,



and termination processes in accordance with organizational policies.
- Ensure all employees receive employment contracts, staff handbooks, and required policy acknowledgements before commencing employment.
- Provide regular operational updates to ownership or senior management, including enrolment inquiries, occupancy, staffing, and program updates.
- Ensure parent and staff handbooks remain current and are distributed as required.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesDaily

- Observe classrooms to ensure quality program implementation.
- Monitor classroom environments and playground safety.
- Review daily reports, health and safety checklists, incident and accident reports.
- Support educators throughout the day.
- Conduct parent tours and respond to family questions and concerns.
- Address operational issues as they arise.

Weekly

- Review educator program plans and provide feedback.
- Observe teaching practices and curriculum implementation.
- Review children's observations and documentation.
- Monitor staff attendance, schedules, and communication logs.
- Support staff recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
- Monitor enrolment and waitlists.

Monthly

- Review children's developmental documentation.
- Coordinate and document monthly emergency management and fire drills.
- Monitor children's developmental goals and progress.
- Prepare and distribute family newsletters.
- Coordinate staff meetings and career development sessions.

Annually

- Review and oversee completion of children's progress reports.
- Plan and coordinate annual centre events and celebrations.
- Organize and implement winter, spring, and summer camp programs.
- Develop program plans and operational goals for the upcoming academic year.
- Review policies, procedures, and licensing compliance to ensure ongoing regulatory requirements are met.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
