Tree Service Manager / Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Tree Service Manager is responsible for the overall efficiency, profitability, and safety of all field operations. This leadership role ensures that all services—from initial scheduling and crew deployment to job completion and site cleanup—are executed with the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Manager acts as the critical link between the administrative/sales team and the field crews.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Scheduling Management

- Oversee daily workflow: Manage the efficient scheduling, routing, and dispatching of multiple crews (Arborists, Climbers, Groundsmen) and equipment.

- Resource Allocation: Optimize the use of company resources, including vehicles, chippers, stump grinders, and specialized lifting equipment.

- Quality Control: Conduct regular site visits and post-job inspections to ensure work is completed according to quoted specifications, safety standards, and client expectations.

- Work closely with the Sales/Estimating team to ensure quotes are accurate and crew instructions are clear.

2. Safety, Compliance, and Training

- Lead Safety Culture: Develop, implement, and strictly enforce company-wide safety protocols, aligning with OSHA, ANSI A300 (Pruning Standards), and ANSI Z133 (Safety Requirements) guidelines.

- Risk Management: Conduct regular safety meetings, equipment inspections, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to proactively mitigate risks.

- Ensure all employees maintain required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Aerial Lift certifications) and possess the necessary PPE.

- Manage incident reporting, investigations, and documentation.

3. Personnel & Team Leadership

- Hiring & Onboarding:



Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of skilled field staff.

- Performance Management: Set clear performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.

- Training & Development: Identify training needs and coordinate professional development for all field employees (e.g., climbing techniques, rigging, pest identification).

- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment focused on professionalism and high productivity.

4. Equipment & Fleet Maintenance

- Manage the preventative maintenance and repair schedule for all vehicles, heavy equipment, and specialized arboricultural tools.

- Maintain accurate records of equipment service history, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

- Make recommendations for the purchase or replacement of major equipment to maintain operational efficiency.

5. Financial Oversight & Accountability

- Monitor daily production rates and crew efficiency to ensure jobs are completed on time and within budget.

- Manage operational budgets and control costs related to labor, equipment, fuel, and supplies.

- Contribute to the overall profitability of the service by minimizing re-work and maximizing crew productivity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $39,483.01-$104,293.93 per year
