JOB TITLE: Crew Lead — Junk Removal, Moving & Deliveries (Hands-On Role)
Location: Sherwood Park / Edmonton, AB
Type: Full-time
Trash to Go Inc. is a growing family-run junk removal, moving and delivery company serving Sherwood Park and the greater Edmonton area. We're hiring our first Crew Lead — someone who will be out on the truck every day doing the work alongside us, and who will eventually build, hire and train the crews that take over the heavy lifting.
If you want a desk, this isn't it. If you're the guy who can wrap a china cabinet properly, load a truck like a puzzle, and still be moving strong at 4 p.m. — keep reading.
What you'll actually be doing (every day)
- Performing junk removal, residential and commercial moves, and delivery jobs — hands-on, all day
- Padding, blanket-wrapping and shrink-wrapping furniture, appliances and fragile items so they arrive undamaged
- Properly loading and securing trucks — weight distribution, tie-downs, straps, stacking to maximize space
- Disassembling and reassembling furniture; navigating stairs, tight hallways, basements and walk-ups
- Safely lifting and carrying heavy items (appliances, safes, pianos, hot tubs, furniture) using proper technique and equipment — dollies, straps, sliders
- Sorting removed items for donation, recycling and disposal; dump and recycling depot runs
- Representing Trash to Go professionally with customers — walkthroughs, explaining the job, keeping the site clean
- Keeping trucks, equipment and supplies clean, stocked and in positive working order
As you grow into the role
- Running the daily job schedule and route order
- Leading a 2–3 person crew on site — assigning tasks, setting the pace, quality control
- Training new hires on our padding, wrapping, loading and customer-service standards
- Eventually hiring and building out crews so you can step back from the daily lifting and run the field operation
We're honest about the timeline: for the first stretch, you're on the truck doing the work. The management side grows as the crews do.
What you must have
- Real, verifiable hands-on moving experience — you have personally padded, wrapped, loaded and unloaded trucks on paid moves. This is not a role we can train from scratch.
- Physically fit and able to do heavy lifting all day — repeatedly lifting 50–100+ lbs, team-lifting heavier, on stairs, in all weather, for full shifts
- Valid Alberta driver's licence with a clean abstract; comfortable driving and backing up cube/box trucks
- Reliable, punctual, shows up ready to work — our reputation depends on it
- Strong customer-facing manner: respectful, calm, presentable
- Able to pass a criminal record check (we work inside people's homes)
Nice to have
- Experience leading or training a moving/junk removal crew
- Class 5 (non-GDL) or higher; air brake or Class 3 an asset
- Familiarity with Edmonton-area dump, recycling and donation facilities
- Own work boots and work gloves
What we offer
- Competitive hourly wage based on real experience, plus tips
- Consistent full-time hours, year-round work
- A genuine path to leading the field operation as we grow — first-in gets first shot
- Small, no-nonsense family business: no corporate layers, your work is seen
To apply
Tell us, in a few sentences: how long you've been doing moves, the toughest item you've moved and how you got it out, and whether you're able to lift heavy all day. Applications without moving experience won't be considered.
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
Experience:
- Moving: 2 years (required)
