Machine Operator – Lower Mainland

North by Northwest Ventures is looking for an experienced Machine Operator to support NXNW’s landscape construction projects throughout the Lower Mainland. We are seeking an individual with extensive hands-on experience operating skid steers / loaders and excavators, who consistently delivers accurate, efficient, and safe work on active construction sites.

This position is intended for an experienced operator with 5+ years of seat time, valid BC operator certifications, and the ability to work closely with foremen, crew members, and management. You are reliable, safety-focused, and take pride in clean execution and high production standards. You understand how your work impacts schedule, budget, and final presentation.

The primary function of this role is to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment to support high-end residential and commercial landscape construction and site works, while maintaining equipment, site organization, and professional conduct.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Safely and efficiently operate skid steers / loaders and excavators on active construction and landscape sites.
- Perform fine grading, excavation, trenching, backfilling, loading, and material handling with precision.
- Work collaboratively with site supervisors and crew members to execute work according to plans and specifications.
- Read and interpret drawings, grades, and site layouts to perform work activities accurately.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and ensure machinery is maintained in good working order.
- Identify potential site issues and communicate proactively with supervisors and management.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.
- Support production goals while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Assist with general site tasks when required to keep projects moving efficiently.

REQUIREMENTS





- 5+ years of proven experience operating skid steers / loaders and excavators in construction or landscape environments.
- Valid BC equipment operator certifications / tickets (required).
- Strong understanding of site safety, grading tolerances, and construction sequencing.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with supervisors and crew.
- High personal standards and a commitment to safe, efficient, and quality-driven work.
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and identify mechanical issues.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience operating trucks with trailers is a major asset.
