Forklift Operator – Rough Terrain / Counterbalance
Location: North York, ON
Job Type: Full-Time | Long-Term
Shift: Night Shift
We are currently hiring an experienced Forklift Operator for one of our clients in the building supplies and construction materials industry.
This is a hands-on position in a warehouse and outdoor yard workplace. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a large Counterbalance or Rough Terrain forklift and be comfortable loading, unloading, and moving heavy construction materials safely and carefully.
Responsibilities
- Operate a large Counterbalance / Rough Terrain forklift safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload construction materials from flatbed trailers and trucks.
- Move, stack, and organize heavy building supplies throughout the warehouse and yard.
- Safely handle materials such as drywall, insulation, steel studs, and other construction-related products.
- Ensure materials are handled carefully to prevent product damage.
- Prepare customer orders and verify quantities against invoices.
- Assist with loading customer orders for delivery or pickup.
- Perform daily forklift safety inspections and report any equipment issues.
- Report damaged materials or equipment to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and yard.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Work safely both indoors and outdoors, including during different weather conditions.
- Perform other material-handling and general warehouse duties as required.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience operating a Rough Terrain Forklift is required.
- Experience operating a large Counterbalance forklift is strongly preferred.
- Valid forklift certification/license.
- Previous experience loading and unloading flatbed trailers is an asset.
- Experience handling heavy construction materials is strongly preferred.
- Experience with drywall, insulation, steel studs, lumber, or other building supplies is an asset.
- Ability to safely handle and move heavy/oversized materials.
- Good understanding of forklift safety and material-handling practices.
- Basic math skills and ability to read invoices/order sheets.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in both warehouse and outdoor yard environments.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Safety shoes required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Pay: $24.50-$25.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
Work Location: In person
