French Teacher / Tutor – Part‑time Position at Oxford Learning Newmarket

Employment Type: Part Time

Position Requirements

Work after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am – 3:00 pm).

Commitment until the end of the school year preferred; continuing through the summer even better.

Reliable and trustworthy – punctuality and consistency are essential.

Strong background in spoken and written French and English; comfortable teaching up to Grade 9 (Grade 12 preferred).

Instruction must be conducted entirely in French.

In‑person role; commuting to the Newmarket location required; no relocation package.

Vulnerable sector screening mandatory.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.

Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.

Teaching certification an asset.

Positive knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum.

Experience

Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level.

Strong English written and oral communication skills.





Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.

Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.

Responsibilities (Position Details)

Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels.

Teaching in the classroom setting (in‑person).

Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.

Filling in post‑lesson notes.

Completing daily student communication updates.

Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times.
