Job Description
Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a skilled and multi-disciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Surgical Day Care and Pre-Admission Clinic.
Qualifications
Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification required at time of hire
ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing
Current >3 years Surgical Day Care nursing experience or equivalent required.
Current >5 years PACU nursing experience required.
Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred
PALS certification required at time of hire and ongoing
Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.
Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills
Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers.
Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
Additional Information
Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating shifts-- Days and Evenings -- 7.5 hour shifts. On call PACU shifts scheduled (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)
Salary: $41.15 to $58.98 per hour
