Job Summary

Athena Fencing Club is a competitive epee fencing club based in Brentwood, Burnaby. We have spent five years building a robust coaching program and a loyal community, and we are expanding our community presence and deepening our roots in Burnaby. We are looking for an experienced, self-driven community builder to help us connect the right people with what we've built, strengthen the partnerships that fuel our growth, and build on existing momentum to create outreach that matches our coaching quality.

This is a role for someone who has done this before and wants to take ownership of a high-impact function with real room to make it your own.

What You Will Do

- Develop and execute an outreach strategy targeting schools, community centres, sports clubs, recreation programs, corporate groups, and local organizations in Burnaby and the surrounding area
- Build and manage relationships with community partners who can refer youth and adult members
- Nurture existing partnerships and keep them active, whether that means rebooking a school program, coordinating a recurring corporate event, or finding new ways to bring a partner back through our doors
- Represent Athena at local events and in the community
- Follow up on inbound inquiries and connect interested prospects with the right program for them
- Build a simple, repeatable playbook that documents what works so the process can scale
- Track outreach activity and report on partnership and enrollment impact

What We Are Looking For

- Proven experience in community outreach, partnerships, business development,



or membership growth, ideally at a gym, studio, sports club, nonprofit, or similar organization
- A natural connector who is comfortable walking into a school, community centre, or business and starting a conversation
- Someone who can both execute and build, not just follow a script but design the approach
- Skilled at maintaining long-term relationships, not just making the first connection but following through to keep partners engaged over time
- Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage their own time and priorities
- Bonus: existing connections in the Burnaby or Metro Vancouver community and fitness space
- Bonus: personal interest in sports, martial arts, fitness, or youth programming

Details

- Type: Part-time, contract
- Hours: Flexible, 10 to 20 hours per week, open to discussion depending on the right candidate
- Location: Hybrid, some in-person presence in Burnaby required
- Rate: $25 to $35 per hour depending on experience, plus performance bonus tied to enrollment and partnership growth
- Contract length: 6 months with strong potential to extend
