Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Major Community Projects Coordinator to join our team for the Canada Summer Jobs program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of community engagement initiatives and events that strengthen local connections and contribute to community development. The successful candidate will assist with outreach activities, event promotion, volunteer coordination, and digital communications while gaining valuable experience in project coordination, marketing, and public engagement.
This paid position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about community involvement, communications, and creating meaningful experiences for local residents.
Duties
- Assist with the planning and delivery of community engagement events, including Jane's Walks, the Urbanist Book Club, the Student Policy Forum, and the Annual General Meeting.
- Promote events through social media, digital communications, and traditional media channels.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers to support community initiatives.
- Assist with website updates and digital content using WordPress.
- Represent the organization at community events and outreach activities.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for projects and events.
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using social media platforms for communications and promotion.
- Familiarity with Canva or other basic graphic design tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Interest in community development, local issues, and public engagement.
- Experience with WordPress or website editing is an asset.
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends.

Duration of Role
35 hours/week for 8 weeks, adaptable schedule

Rate of Pay

- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
