About the Peterborough Family Health Team
Peterborough Family Health Team (PFHT) is a collaborative primary care organization that works alongside family physicians and community partners to provide comprehensive, team-based care to the residents of Peterborough and Peterborough County. Our interdisciplinary team works together across multiple clinical sites.
PFHT supports clinical excellence, innovation, and digital health solutions that enhance patient care, improve provider workflows, and protect the privacy and security of health information.
We are currently seeking a Clinical Manager to support the expanding needs of the organization and to ensure consistency in service delivery.
Overview
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and in consultation with the Medical Advisor, the Clinical Manager will provide leadership to Primary Care Physician-Led Teams of Interprofessional Healthcare Providers at assigned Family Health Organizations (FHOs), programs and services.
The Clinical
Manager will support Physician-led team-based care that allows individual team members to work to their full scope of practice in their area of clinical expertise in a collaborative and creative environment.

Manager will work with all members of the organization to ensure services are consistent with Peterborough Family Health Team’s (PFHT) mission, vision, values, and strategic direction.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and management to FHO based PFHT teams and assigned programs and services. This involves the supervision, coaching and performance management of interdisciplinary health professionals. The Clinical Manager develops and supports a work environment that exemplifies interdisciplinary and ethical practice; skilled autonomous decision making; integrative thinking; change management and quality improvement.;
- Works collaboratively with all members of the FHO physician group and administration and PFHT IHP’s to ensure accountability, operational efficiency and effectiveness;
- Leads team-based meetings to foster communication and receive input to ensure a collaborative approach is maintained;
- Monitors and updates the Chief Executive Officer and Medical Adviser on all aspects of daily operations as needed and in a timely fashion;
- Coordinates their time away (vacation, personal time, sick time etc.) to ensure clinical leadership is maintained;
- Main office location will be at the head office; however, this position requires on-site attendance at multiple clinic locations on a weekly basis;
- Supports the accomplishment of the PFHT strategic and operational plans that achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance and system integration;
- Ensures organizational compliance with relevant professional practice standards (i.e. Regulatory Colleges, legislation (i.e. PHIPA, ESA, OHSA), and organizational policies and procedures;
- Supports completion of internal and ministry- related reports, in collaboration with the administration team
- Effectively manages human resource issues (i.e. hiring, performance management, vacation requests, and continuing education requests) in collaboration with the Human Resources Supervisor
- Maintains fiscal accountability by collecting and monitoring necessary fiscal and utilization data and analyzes data appropriately. Ensures effective use of resources. Monitors the budget(s), identifies variances, and takes corrective action as required to maintain expenditures within the approved budget(s);
- Provides consistent and timely responses and follow up to employees and stakeholders;
- Liaises and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are aligned and integrated across and within the populations served;
- Ensures outcome measurements are in place for services in collaboration with IHPs and Senior Data Analyst;
- Works collaboratively with the team to prepare and implement PFHT’s Quality Improvement plan;
- Maintains current knowledge of Primary Health Care priorities and programs in the Province of Ontario and ensures that all programs and services are aligned with these priorities;
- Provides clinical guidance and expertise to PFHT to ensure services meet the needs of residents of our community;
- Collaborates with IHP’s to identify potential career development activities to ensure learning needs are supported and are working to their full scope of practice;
- Participates in committees as needed.
The above responsibilities are not to be considered all-inclusive; they may be assigned other related duties in the interest of efficient operations of Peterborough Family Health Team.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in a healthcare related field required, with a Master's degree in a related field being an asset
- Member of a regulatory college in healthcare required (ie. CNO, DC, CRPO, etc)
- Experience working in primary care an asset Experience of at least 3 to 5 years in middle level management in a clinical environment preferred
- Valid driver’s license, vulnerable sector police check, and own vehicle required
- Committed to personal ongoing professional development
Skills
- Performs well under minimal supervision with accountability for specific goals/objectives
- Strong critical analysis, problem solving, planning, decision-making conflict resolution, organizational and change management skills
- Demonstrated ability to promote and model teamwork in a clinical setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong orientation to staff development
- Computer literacy in a Windows 365 environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email, and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders
Hours of Work Monday to Friday, some occasional early morning, evening and weekend work may be required.
