About The Opportunity
The City of Penticton is looking for Clerical Relief, based in Penticton, B.C.
Employees on our Clerical Relief Roster provide coverage in a variety of Cashier, Reception, and Clerical roles on an on‑call, as‑needed basis. These positions play a key role in the organization by covering absences of permanent employees, sometimes on very short notice.
Clerical Relief staff may also be scheduled to assist with increased workloads or special projects. Many employees who join our Clerical Relief roster go on to secure permanent positions with the City. Required Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by post‑secondary coursework in administration, business, or accounting
- A minimum of three years of experience providing exceptional customer service to the public, both in person and by telephone
- Cashier or teller experience in a high‑volume transaction and cash‑handling environment (an asset)
- Experience working in a public sector organization and knowledge of point‑of‑sale or related cash‑handling systems (an asset)
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while building effective working relationships
- Working knowledge of Tempest software systems (an asset)
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Keyboarding speed of 60 words per minute with a high level of accuracy in data entry

Compensation based on skills and experience is an hourly rate of $28.73 - $31.91 (Pay Grade 3, CUPE), along with a host of excellent benefits including:
