Part-Time Host — Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar (Kanata)

Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar is hiring a part-time host to join our team at our Kanata location (790 Kanata Avenue). The host is the first and last impression our guests have of Bâton Rouge — we're looking for someone polished, personable, and ready to learn the systems that keep our front door running smoothly on our busiest nights.

What You'll Do

- Greet every guest warmly on arrival and thank them sincerely on departure
- Manage the reservation system — take bookings, confirm reservations, and handle modifications with accuracy
- Run the front door during peak service: manage the waitlist, quote accurate wait times, and keep the flow moving
- Seat guests strategically to balance server sections and maximize table turns
- Answer phones professionally and handle takeout orders, inquiries, and reservations
- Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming entrance and host stand
- Communicate clearly with servers, managers, and kitchen staff about timing, VIPs, allergies, and special requests
- Coat check, menu stocking, and other front-of-house duties as needed
- Learn our POS (Maitre'D) and reservation platform thoroughly — willingness and aptitude to master these systems is essential

What We're Looking For

- Previous host or customer-facing experience preferred
- Confident,



friendly demeanor with strong verbal communication
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and professional under pressure during a packed Friday or Saturday night
- Sharp attention to detail — especially with reservations, special occasions, and guest notes
- Genuine willingness to learn our systems and take ownership of the front door
- Full weekend availability required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Availability on all major holidays required (including but not limited to Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Canada Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and New Year's Eve)
- Evening availability required; some day shifts available
