Qualitree has grown from two founders in a greenhouse to a 100-acre horticultural operation over 30 years. A big part of that growth has come from people - a permanent team of 50, and a contingent workforce of up to 200 at peak, drawn from Latin America, India, exchange programmes, and agency arrangements. Managing that workforce well is not easy, and we have not always had the right HR focus on it.

That is what this role is here to fix - and then some.

We are also looking at how we bring talented people - and potentially their families - into the Qualitree community for the long term. New source countries, new immigration pathways, new programme partnerships. That thinking is early. This person will help shape it.

The Role

This is a fully on-site, hands-on role. You will spend part of your time head down in documentation, compliance files, and programme administration - and part of your time with people. Checking in with a Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) from Guatemala or Mexico who is two months in and quietly struggling. Getting to know a young student who has just arrived from Brazil on an exchange programme and is finding their feet. Sitting with a Lead Grower to think through a difficult conversation. The situations are rarely straightforward and you need to enjoy that, not just tolerate it.

- Own the TFW and exchange scheme programmes end to end - compliance, worker support, housing liaison, and end-of-season processes.
- See the talent in the entire contingent workforce - including agency workers, many from Southeast Asia - and think actively about who could contribute more to Qualitree over time.




- Research new international labour sources and immigration pathways - including countries and programmes not yet on Qualitree's radar - and bring well-formed ideas forward.
- Handle the administration properly - records, documentation, programme tracking - because accuracy in this space has real consequences for real people.

If This Is You

You have solid HR generalist experience and you are drawn to a remit that most generalist roles do not offer. You are genuinely curious about people from different cultures and backgrounds - not as a category to manage but as individuals with stories, skills, and potential.

You are comfortable with paperwork, and you do not resent it. You understand that a missed document in a TFW file is not an admin error - it is a problem for a person. That keeps you careful without making you slow.

You are educated, intellectually curious, and interested in how things work - whether that is an immigration pathway, a labour market in the Philippines, or a better way to onboard a young student arriving from Brazil. You bring ideas rather than waiting to be asked.

- Ideally HR generalist experience in an operational, agricultural, or international workforce context.
- Comfortable working independently in a small HR team without a lot of hand-holding.




- Spanish language skills are a distinct advantage - our workforce will notice and appreciate it.
- Ideally degree qualified and/or working toward a CPHR designation.
- Some knowledge of Canadian immigration pathways - TFW, Agri-Food Pilot, or similar - or the curiosity and drive to develop it quickly.

$32 - $45 per hour ($66,560 - $93,600 annually) depending on experience.
