Position Responsibilities
The School of Trades and Technology is seeking a Full-Time Sessional Instructor (8.5 month Term Certain) to teach lab courses in the Engineering Technology programs. The expectation will be that the faculty will teach
lab courses that relate primarily to Instrumentation and Automation Engineering Technology, and potentially other closely related or general topics.
Responsibilities of Full-Time Faculty at the School of Trades and Technology include (but are not limited to):
- Delivering courses congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes
- Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and learning styles
- Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards
- Inspiring students by exhibiting enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and subject material
- Contributing to course and program curriculum development and renewal
- Engaging in scholarly activity within the domains of Ernest Boyer’s model: scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching
- Working collegially within department, School, or Institution committees and project teams

Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology or equivalency in closely related discipline
- 5 years of post-graduation work experience related to the field
- Relevant professional designations such as CET, P.Tech, etc.
- Suitable candidates are experienced in a substantial number of the following topics as they relate to instrumentation:
- Electrical Principles
- CAD
- Process Measurements
- Programmable Logic Controllers
- Process Control
- DCS, SCADA, HMI/System Integration
- Hydraulics and Pneumatics
- Instrumentation Systems
- Analyzers
- Microcontrollers
- Robotics
- CNC Manufacturing
Note that alternate combinations of related education, certification, and work experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience delivering laboratory or experiential learning activities
- 10 years of post-graduation work experience in related field
