About Ontario Farmland Trust
Ontario Farmland Trust (OFT) is a non-profit charity organization dedicated to protecting farmland and supporting sustainable agriculture across Ontario. OFT works at the intersection of land conservation and active farming, helping ensure that farmland remains productive, resilient, and connected to the communities it supports.
The Bourgeois Farm in Tiverton, Ontario is a multi-use, community-oriented site that brings together active farming, conservation, education, and community programming. The site includes a Best Management Practices (BMP) demonstration project focused on soil health, water protection, and climate-resilient agriculture, alongside other activities such as community garden production, volunteer engagement, and partner-led initiatives.
During the 2026 season, the farm will host a field-scale demonstration comparing mulch-based BMPs, alongside a bok choy variety trial. Through on-farm trials, field days, and community engagement, the site serves as a hands-on learning environment where farmers and partners can observe how different practices perform under real growing conditions. The Field Assistant will primarily support the BMP demonstration work while also contributing to other on-site activities.
