Position Summary
The Community Engagement Facilitator connects children and families to early learning programs and community resources through outreach, intake, and family engagement. The role supports parents in navigating services, facilitates educational and community activities, and promotes active participation in children’s development. Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and partners, the position delivers strength-based, trauma-informed, and culturally inclusive support to enhance school readiness and overall family well-being.
Schedule
- Anticipated start date: July or August 2026
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (full-time, office hours)
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, with adjusted scheduling
- Local travel required between office locations, family residences, and community events
Key Responsibilities
- Lead program intake and assessment processes, gathering and reviewing family information to determine eligibility and service needs.
- Support families through intake by providing clear program information and assisting with documentation and required forms.
- Coordinate assessments and referrals, including scheduling specialized services as needed.
- Plan, promote, and facilitate parent education sessions, workshops, and community events to enhance engagement.
- Build and maintain relationships with families, schools, and community partners to increase program awareness and access.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support coordinated, family-centered service delivery and child development outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation, data entry, and reporting in compliance with organizational and privacy standards.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).
Certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle
- Proof of vehicle insurance, registration and 3-year drivers abstract.
- Standard First Aid and CPR
- Suicide Intervention
- De-escalation
- Trauma-informed Care
- Training or experience using Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ/ASQSE) would be an asset
- Training in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and/or coaching approaches would be an asset
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in family support, community outreach, or case management in a community-based setting.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including newcomers and culturally diverse families
- Experience building partnerships and supporting community engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge of the Sustainable Livelihood Framework and its application in family support and goal planning
- Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (Alberta)
- Knowledge of community resources, service networks, and referral pathways
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate parent education sessions, workshops, and community events.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, and database systems, with strong documentation skills.
