Blue Cross Pet Hospital is looking for an experienced veterinary assistant with technical skills to join our friendly and hardworking team. We are a busy, independently owned, 2 doctor practice in East Vancouver focused on providing excellent patient care.
The ideal candidate will:
- love working with animals and people,
- be able to multitask and work well within a team,
- have excellent organizational and communication skills,
- maintain compassion, empathy and professionalism during high-stress situations.
Job responsibilities include:
- providing basic comfort and nursing care and keeping accurate medical records,
- checking appointments in and out,
- animal restraint,
- filling prescriptions,
- assisting in taking digital x-rays,
- sterilization of surgical equipment,
- assisting the receptionist in answering phones and booking appointments,
- maintaining hospital cleanliness.
Prior experience in a veterinary hospital and completion of a VOA program or equivalent is required.
Must be available to work Saturdays.
Job Types: Part time, Fixed term contract
Part-time hours: 24-40 per week
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
Experience:
- Veterinary assistant: 3 years (required)
