Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in industrial electrical projects? We’re looking for a driven, detail‑oriented professional to lead complex installations, upgrades, and maintenance projects within industrial environments.
Northumberland Electric is a mid-sized Electrical Contractor serving Mainland Nova Scotia for over 30 years, we have been specializing in industrial installations including control panel fabrication, equipment installations, automation systems, and power distribution. We have worked for some of the largest companies in the province, striving to deliver the highest quality of workmanship possible on projects up to $2M in value.
As a key member of our team, you will oversee project planning, execution, and scheduling while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external throughout each project phase. You will perform on‑site takeoffs and work closely with the estimating, purchasing, and payroll teams to support secure, on‑time, and on‑budget project delivery. You will also coordinate material logistics and manpower scheduling to ensure efficient and effective project execution.

Full Job Description — Industrial Electrical Project Manager
Position Title: Project Manager – Industrial Electrical
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: South Shore, Annapolis Valley and Western Shore
Overview
The Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of industrial electrical projects including planning, coordination, execution, and completion. This role requires a strong technical understanding of industrial electrical systems and excellent project coordination skills. The PM ensures that all work meets company quality standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning & Execution
- Plan, schedule, and manage industrial electrical projects from conception through completion.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Conduct site visits and support field teams in maintaining safe work practices.
Team & Client Coordination
- Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously with regional teams, providing guidance on project execution, team management, and performance optimization.
- Lead project meetings with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding schedule, scope, and changes.
- Resolve issues affecting project progress and communicate updates promptly.
Financial Management
- Supply information for invoicing, change orders, purchase orders, and cost projections while identifying potential issues early.
- Monitor project budgets and timelines to ensure adherence to organizational standards while managing scope changes using change management practices ensuring profitability and financial performance of each project.
-Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging data analysis skills for process optimization.
-Develop and implement strategic plans to expand market presence within the territory.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate job records, logs, and documentation.
- Provide weekly project updates and reports to leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 3–5+ years of proven experience in project management (industrial electrical preferred).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems used in industrial applications (e.g., MCCs, VFDs, transformers, distribution panels).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining organizational efficiency.
Preferred
- Red Seal Electrician certification or Electrical Engineering background.
- Experience with industrial facilities (manufacturing, plants, utilities).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Combination of office and on-site industrial environments.
