EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Grade 10-12 or post-secondary program
- Educational interests include Arts, History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Indigenous Studies, and/or Political Science and Business Administration
- Experience working with indigenous communities/people considered an asset
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be returning to studies in the fall of 2026
- Must be willing to work on Saturdays
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search with results acceptable to WFN
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES
- Engages with drop-in visitors as required, providing them with an informative and educational experience regarding the museum and its exhibits, programs and events
- Maintains the frontline and/or gift shop and performs cash handling duties as required
- Performs routine office and administrative tasks of the Sncewips Heritage Museum including but not limited to:
- Reception duties - answering and directing clients and phone calls, arranging couriers, managing boardroom bookings, reporting daily attendance
- Photocopying, sorting, filing
- Ordering and maintaining office supplies and other materials as requested by staff
- Assists Communications Coordinator with social media presence
- Assists Museum Assistant with tour scheduling and invoicing
- Prepares memos, emails, posters, and other correspondence as required
- Completes opening and closing procedures
- Maintains a clean and efficient work environment
- Co-ordinates and assists with special projects and events as required
- Researches information on a variety of heritage/cultural subjects for the Museum as directed by the Sncəwips Senior Manager or other Sncəwips staff
- May involve some travel to attend meetings or events to gain practical knowledge and skills in First Nation governance and title & rights issues for the IGA department
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards, and procedures and as directed by the Sncəwips Senior Manager
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- An interest in learning about our history, heritage, and living culture and language
- Demonstrates experience and/or willingness to learn preparing correspondence/documents using Word, Excel,
Outlook, and Publisher
- Ability to time manage and keep organized
- Must have the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Personable and friendly personality
The Median hourly wage for this position is $23.00
This is a term position set to end on August 31, 2026
