Position Summary
As a Life Enrichment Aide (LEA), you will plan and deliver engaging recreation and leisure programs that support the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of residents.
Working under the direction of the Director of Resident & Family Services and the Life Enrichment Coordinator, you will provide programming in alignment with individual Care Plans, Restorative Care principles, and adult Montessori approaches.
Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery
- Plan, organize, and deliver life enrichment programs, activities, outings, and special events
- Encourage and motivate resident participation
- Support programs that enhance independence and quality of life
Program Development & Documentation
- Assist in the planning and development of recreational and therapeutic programs
- Document resident participation and activity outcomes in accordance with policies and regulations
- Ensure programming aligns with individual Care Plans
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with team members, residents, and families
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support resident goals
- Maintain professional and positive interactions at all times
Environment & Safety
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized program environment
- Follow infection prevention and control (IPAC) and workplace safety protocols
- Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and ongoing training
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or a related field (or enrolled and eligible to complete within three years of hire)
- Experience in geriatric care or dementia care is preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Energetic, self-motivated, and dependable with a strong attendance record
- Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
- Adherence to company policies, including dress code, conduct, and immunization requirements
