Summary
The Assistant Plant Manager will be the primary resource in managing nitrous oxide production, filling and testing. Activities include direct interface with customers, establishing a production schedule based on customer requirements, managing workflow through the analytical lab, and maintaining laboratory quality records including statistical process control charts. It also involves maintenance of ISO9001-2008 and medical cGMP quality systems. The role works with plant operators to perform analytical work by gas chromatograph and maintenance on laboratory equipment, cylinder filling pumps, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Interface directly with customers in taking orders and establishing a production schedule based on customer requirements.
- Work productively with and direct the activities of others.
- Schedule and perform testing by gas chromatograph of high purity and medical nitrous oxide.
- Maintain all laboratory records, including certificates of analysis and calibration data.
- Maintain and enter SPC data into quality software and interpret the output.
- Coordinate directly with customers concerning delivery schedules, product complaints, and other special projects as needed.
Participate in customer audits and in resolution of audit findings.
- Audit fill records.
- Familiarize with ISO quality system, Food Safety System, medical quality system, local procedure manual, Safety Management System, etc.; possible involvement in internal auditing and procedure writing/editing.
- Hands‑on plant activity such as design and construction of a gas sampling manifold from time to time.
- Interact with government agencies: Health Canada, TSSA, Ministry of the Environment, etc.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience working in a plant or industrial environment.
- Experience directing or supervising the activity of others.
- Thorough familiarity with Google Suite platform.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemical process facility workplace.
- Experience working with forklift.
