Library Technician – Programming and Outreach Coordinator (Union) Renfrew Public Library

Reporting to the Chief Librarian and the Library CEO, the Library Technician responsible for Programming and Outreach Coordination duties will engage the community through targeted programming and outreach that responds to the community’s needs and interests. This position provides programs for adults, seniors and teens; provides technological services to patrons; and works with community partners to bring library services into the community. On a smaller scale, they will provide reference, reader’s advisory, and circulation services to the public.

Qualifications:

· A library technician diploma is preferred (combination of education and experience will be considered)

· Minimum of two (02) years related experience in public libraries, programming or community outreach preferred.

· Ability to work 70 hours bi-weekly, including assigned evenings and/or weekends.

· Excellent organizational and planning skills.

· Proven ability to deal effectively and positively with the public.

· Excellent communication and organizational skills.

· Demonstrated competency with current information technology, with the ability to instruct users on library technology use and social media skills to market programs.





· Ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels within an organization.

· Capable of successfully juggling multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and organizing activities.

· As a condition of employment, all applicants must be willing to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check with results that are to the satisfaction of the Renfrew Public Library.
