About SoHum Scent Bar

SoHum Scent Bar is a fragrance studio rooted in craftsmanship, community, and considered design. We create hand-poured candles, perfumes, reed diffusers, and home fragrance goods, and host immersive scent experiences where guests slow down, connect, and create.

We are not a traditional retail job. This is a role for someone who wants to understand how a brand is built from the inside out—how a product is formulated, made, sold, experienced, and remembered.

The Role

We are looking for a part-time team member who will integrate across **all parts of the business**: manufacturing, retail sales, and scent bar experiences. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role for someone who takes pride in both making and hosting.

You will move fluidly between the back-of-house and the front-of-house—pouring candles one hour, guiding a perfume experience the next, and helping a guest find the perfect scent for their home or a meaningful gift.

This role is ideal for someone who loves working with their hands, connecting with people, and being part of a growing, design-led brand.

What You’ll Do

Manufacturing & Production

* Hand-pour candles, blend fragrances, and prepare home and body products

* Label, package, and quality-check finished goods

* Assist with inventory tracking, materials organization, and production cycles

* Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace

Retail & Customer Experience

* Welcome and guide customers through our scent collections and product offerings

* Support in-store sales and Shopify POS transactions

* Merchandise shelves, refill displays, and maintain brand presentation

* Handle online order fulfillment and local pickups

Scent Bar Experiences

* Host candle-making and perfume-blending experiences





* Set up and reset the space before and after bookings

* Walk guests through fragrance notes, blending, and the creative process

* Create a warm, thoughtful, and memorable atmosphere for groups and private events

Schedule

This role follows our in-store hours and production needs, including weekdays and some weekends for experiences and events. You MUST be available to work day time shifts during the week.

SoHum Scent Bar

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Guide and educate customers throughout their candle workshop and retail experience.
- Provide an unmatched level of service, making each customer experience unforgettable.
- Maintain a good knowledge of all products, ingredients and inventory, operate check-in & register, inventory fulfillment, and perform opening/closing duties.
- Provide support to management for production/operations and be a team lead.

Qualifications we require:

- Ability to learn quickly (we will provide training)
- Qualities of a good leader
- Pure passion to make customers happy
- Minimum high school education or equivalent
- 2+ years' of retail or equivalent management experience
- Strong verbal or written communication skills
- Candle experience a plus but not necessary
- A love to create and work with your hands (cannot be sensitive to scents)
- Incredible organization skills, self-motivated, reliable, and goal-orientated
- Must be ok with repetitive tasks (ie. pouring, wicking, labeling, packaging)
- Must be able to carry 50lb box (a must since our wax boxes weight 50lbs)
- Must have evening/ weekend and holiday availability

This position starts at $18.50/hr with the ability to increase within the first year based on experience level, applicable skill sets, and your ability to jump in and contribute.
