Are you passionate about tourism, events, communications, and helping people discover amazing places? The Oliver Tourism Association is seeking an energetic and motivated Visitor Services, Communications & Events Ambassador to join our team for the summer season.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tourism operations, event planning, visitor services, marketing, and community engagement while working in one of Canada’s premier wine destinations.
About Oliver Tourism Association
The Oliver Tourism Association operates the Oliver Visitor Information Centre on behalf of the Town of Oliver and works to increase overnight visitation and strengthen Oliver’s visitor economy.
We promote local businesses, attractions, accommodations, events, wineries, outdoor recreation, and experiences throughout Oliver and the surrounding South Okanagan region from Road 22 to Vaseux Lake and beyond.
Oliver Tourism also produces and supports major community events, including:
- Cask & Keg Festival
- Festival of the Grape
- Additional tourism and community initiatives throughout the year
Position Overview
As the Visitor Services, Communications & Events Ambassador, you will work closely with the Visitor Services & Events Manager and the Oliver Tourism team to:
- Welcome and assist visitors at the Visitor Centre
- Deliver mobile visitor services at events and community locations
- Support the planning and execution of festivals and events
- Assist with marketing campaigns and social media
- Promote Oliver as a destination to visitors and locals alike
This role is ideal for someone considering a future career in tourism, hospitality, events, marketing, or communications.

- Available to work weekends and some events
Qualifications & Desired Skills
Preference will be given to candidates pursuing post-secondary education in:
- Tourism
- Hospitality
- Communications
- Marketing
- Business or related fields
Desired qualifications include:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills and confidence with technology
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Initiative, professionalism, and reliability
- Knowledge of local attractions, businesses, and recreation assets is an asset
- Second language skills are an asset
Key Responsibilities
Visitor Services & Retail
- Greet visitors and answer inquiries in person, by phone, email,
and social media
- Provide recommendations on accommodations, activities, dining, events, and attractions
- Maintain accurate visitor statistics and records
- Assist with gift shop sales, ticket sales, and merchandise displays
- Help maintain a welcoming, clean, and organized Visitor Centre
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs
Events & Festivals
- Support the coordination and delivery of tourism events and festivals
- Assist with event setup, guest experience, logistics, and promotions
- Promote Oliver events and tourism experiences to visitors and stakeholders
- Support ticket sales and event communications
Marketing & Social Media
- Assist in executing social media content plans across platforms
- Create engaging posts promoting Oliver experiences, events, and businesses
- Help maintain accurate event calendars and visitor information
- Identify new promotional opportunities through online trends and tourism channels
Administration & Team Support
- Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment
- Support staff, volunteers, and supervisors as needed
- Share ideas to improve visitor experiences and tourism services
- Assist with general administrative duties and other projects as assigned

Pay: $17.85-$20.86 per hour
