The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of all commercial and industrial maintenance and project operations. This role ensures that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the General Manager will driver operational strategy, optimize process, lead high-performing teams, and align operational execution with the company’s long-term vision and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for all operations, including maintenance, and project divisions, as well as the fleet/equipment and shop
- Oversee workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and productivity
- Establish and maintain operational systems, processes, and performance standards
- Ensure seamless coordination between field operations, administration, and leadership
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, and field teams
- Build effective teams through internal development and succession planning
- Possess a servant leadership style with positive coaching approach
- Build a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
- Align team goals with company objectives and strategic priorities
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
Project & Service Delivery
- Oversee execution of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction projects
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget
- Monitor project performance and resolve operational challenges proactively
- Support planning, and project startup processes
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture across all operations
- Ensure full compliance with occupational health & safety regulations and environmental standards
- Partner with safety team to reduce incidents and continuously improve safety performance
Financial Management
- Monitor and manage labour budgets
- Monitor costs, margins, and profitability across all projects and service lines
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency
- Oversee procurement of equipment, materials, and subcontracted services
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Define, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) (e.g., safety, productivity, quality, profitability)
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives across operations
- Use data-driven decision-making to optimize performance and scalability
Strategic Alignment
- Collaborate with fellow leadership members to develop and execute business strategy
- Translate company vision into actionable operational plans
- Support growth initiatives, including new services, markets, and operational capacity expansion
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial/industrial maintenance, construction, or related field
- Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership or operations management role
- Proven experience managing large-scale operations and multiple crews/projects simultaneously
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and performance management
- Demonstrated success leading teams in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
- Experience in project management and operational planning in a leadership capacity
- Solid leadership and team-building capabilities
- Strategic thinking with hands-on execution ability
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of organization and operational discipline
- Adaptable, forward-thinking, and results-driven
- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Office 365
- Experience with scheduling, estimating, and project management software
- Valid driver’s license

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $95,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
