Healthcare Security Officer

Site Description: Guysborough Memorial Hospital offers a 24-hour emergency department along with a range of essential healthcare services.

Position Details:

Position: Full time Security Guard

Site: Guysborough Memorial Hospital

Location: 10560 NS-16, Guysborough NS B0H 1N0

Hours: 4-day on 4-day off; Rotational Shifts - 0700-1900/1900-0700

Payrate: $ 20.50

Key Responsibilities:

- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises to ensure the safety and security of the site.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff, ensuring that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaboration with Hospital Staff:



Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
- Perform patient watch duties as needed, including continuous observation to ensure safety and prevent harm. Monitor and report concerns, follow clinical direction, and document accurately.

Prerequisites:

- Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- - Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
