Instructional Program Lead (Full-Time, OCT Required)

About the Role
Appletree Learning Centre is seeking a highly reliable, proactive, and committed Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) to join our team as a full-time Instructional Program Lead.
This role involves explicit, structured literacy instruction. Candidates must be able to model spoken English with a high level of clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Instruction at Appletree is highly structured and explicit. Teachers deliver SRA Direct Instruction (DI) programs that involve modeling sounds, guiding students through blending and decoding, and following carefully designed lesson scripts. Sessions are fast-paced, precise, and focused on building foundational literacy and numeracy skills through repetition, correction, and mastery.
This is not a traditional teaching position. It is a structured, high-impact role combining:
- High-quality, one-on-one instruction
- Meaningful contributions to the day-to-day operations of the centre
This role is ideal for educators looking to step outside of the school board system and contribute within a smaller, high-performing team.
What the Role Looks Like
- 5–6 hours/day: Direct, one-on-one instruction
- ~2 hours/day:
- Lesson preparation
- Collaboration with leadership and admin
- Supporting internal projects and centre organization

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, one-on-one instruction using structured, scripted Direct Instruction (DI) programs (literacy and math up to Grade 8)
- Implement programs with fidelity and attention to detail
- Prepare thoroughly for all sessions
- Support student progress through structured, mastery-based instruction
- Collaborate with leadership and administrative staff
- Support internal projects, including: organization and systems within the centre, resource development, administrative support

Training & Onboarding (Required)
Training takes place in July and August at our Etobicoke location and is a required component of this role.
The full-time position will officially begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Training includes:
- Self-directed training modules
- 8 observation sessions
- 10-12 team teaching sessions
All training must be completed by mid-August.
Qualifications
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT required)
- Exceptional command of spoken English, including precise articulation of phonemes and the ability to model sounds, blending,
and language structures for early literacy instruction
- Strong instructional ability in literacy and math (up to Grade 8)
- Comfortable delivering highly structured, scripted programs
- Strong organization and professionalism
- Excellent communication skills
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Special Education experience
- SRA Direct Instruction experience
- Writing instruction experience
