Assistant Principal at Grande Cache Community High School

n

Position: Assistant Principal, Temporary: High School (Assignment will consitst of .20 FTE Administration and .80 FTE Teaching)

n

Location: Grande Cache Community High School, Grande Cache Alberta

n

Start Date: 2026-2027 school year until June 29, 2027 or the return of the incumbent, whichever occurs sooner.

n

Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

n

nGrande Cache Community High School is located in Grande Cache, Alberta which resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. A high school providing excellent education to approximately 200 students, grades 9-12.n

Role and Responsibilities The successful candidate is an innovative, caring, collaborative and committed instructional leader, whose role will consist of Administration and Instruction in areas of strengths as determined by the Principal.

- Providing instructional leadership to promote high quality teaching and learning.n
n
- Implementing the Teacher Growth, Supervision and Evaluation Policy.n
n
- Providing each student with the opportunity to fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams.n
n
- Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.n
n
- Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.n
n
- Managing school operations and finances.n
n
- Developing a shared responsibility between students , parents, schools and communities.n
n
- Modelling commitment to professional development.n




n
- Knowledgeable in research and practices to provide for the professional growth and evaluation of school staff conversant with data-driven decision-making strategies to develop data-based priorities in support of continuous improvement.n
n
- A collaborative leader who can engage staff in student-focused learning.nProactive in theory, research and practices to ensure school discipline is maintained at a positive and caring standard.n

n
- Familiar with philosophy and practices to establish a student-centered timetable to optimize student learning opportunities.n
n
- Capable to promote and engage in positive and supportive relationships between the school, community and interagency partners.n
n
- Flexible with a broad curricular background or experience and involvement in school life.n
n

n

n
- Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate
n
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education
n
- Demonstrated progress towards a master's degree is preferred but not required
n
- Prior administrative experience is an asset
n
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
n
- Experience in implementing the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS)



and infusing literacy across the curriculum
n
- Technology skills to be able to work in the divisional context
n
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
n
- Robust relationship building skills to positively promote and support students
n
- Proven track record of strong instructional practice and success across the curriculum
n
- Experience in infusing First Nations, Metis and Inuit foundational knowledge across the curriculum
n
- Lived experiences in understanding Indigenous educational ways of knowing is an asset
n
- Understanding of Off-Campus Educational Programs is considered an asset
n

nAddtiional Notes: Demonstrates progress toward or attainment of the Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certification, with the ability to meet the competencies outlined within the standard.nThe preferred candidate will have experience in high school mathematics and science; however, assignment flexibility may be considered based on the candidate’s skills and qualifications.n

nGrande Yellowhead School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.n
