The Bassano Beavers Junior Hockey Club is a USPHL Premier Hockey team in the Alberta Division. Established for the 2026/2027 season, the Beavers aim to grow into a successful franchise and a key part of the Bassano community. The team plays at the Bassano Arena.

Head Coach Position The Bassano Beavers Junior Hockey Club is looking for energetic and enthusiastic candidates to become the Head Coach (HC) for the 2026/2027 season. Successful candidates will help build a new hockey club in a thriving North American Hockey League that offers excellent player development opportunities both nationally and internationally.

Job Description As HC, a successful candidate will need to oversee tasks including, but not limited to: Coaching and Player Development: Plan and lead on-ice practices, games, and off-ice training sessions. Create a structured development plan focusing on NCAA, AAU, ACHA, U-Sport, league advancement, or professional development. Provide individual skill development and mentorship for players (aged 16-20) Analyze game video to identify areas for improvement Ownership is considering implementing AI-driven solutions such as 49ing.ai for player tracking in real-time, using existing video equipment. https://www.49ing.ai/ Encourage and ensure player involvement in community philanthropy and youth hockey development within the community Team and Staff Management: Support Staff Assist ownership and management in evaluating and selecting all support staff, including, but not limited to: Assistant Coach Equipment Manager Athletic Trainer Gameday Staff Billet Coordinator Player Acquisition, Recruiting, and Scouting: With assistance from the General Manager and the Ownership group: Identify and recruit elite-level junior players from across Alberta, North America,
and internationally through: Personal ventures Scouting reports from 3rd-party agents Video scouting Attend showcases, camps, and tournaments as needed for scouting purposes Build strong relationships with youth programs, agents, and other junior and college programs (with assistance from ownership group, if necessary) Player Management: Foster positive professional relationships with players.

Provide an adequate environment for long-term player development, in line with the franchise's mission Ensure player exposure to advancement opportunities, including international play and college (club and sanctioned, both Canada and the United States). Inventory and order any required equipment required by the club, with owner and equipment manager oversight.

Public Relations and Team Representation Serve as the team spokesperson and handle media relations with assistance from club ownership, including, but not limited to: Media interviews. Community events. Oversee social media and marketing of the club. Billet Families Community Representatives Manage operations with the Bassano Arena Board of Directors. Oversee Billet coordination. Manage communications with Bassano Community.

Additional roles and responsibilities may be negotiated with ownership during the interview and contract negotiations.

Compensation This position is a 9-month term position,
to be evaluated and renewed on the Anniversary of each year. The salary range will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and qualifications. Additional bonuses and incentives may also be paid based on performance, including but not limited to playoff appearances, championships, and player development milestones.

Bonuses may be negotiated during the interview and contract negotiation. Any travel expenses directly related to team operations, such as player acquisition, team travel, scouting combines, and showcase tournaments, may be eligible for reimbursement. These travel plans must be discussed in advance.

A per diem may be negotiated for any necessary travel outside of regular league play and playoffs.

Relocation
nThis position requires accessibility to the team, support staff, and community for the franchise's success. The successful candidate must live within a reasonable distance of Bassano to ensure in office readiness in a short time. If relocation is necessary, a relocation bonus may be negotiated, asking with reasonable attempts to find suitable lodging within the community.n
Independent Contractor
nThis is an independent contractor position. The GM will perform all duties under this agreement as an independent contractor, not as an employee of the Bassano Beavers Junior Hockey Club. This position does not create a partnership, joint venture, or employer-employee relationship between the team and the GM.n
