We are searching for a full-time, seasonal Flotation Operator to join our growing team in the historic mining Town of Buchans, Newfoundland and Labrador. Barite Mud Services Inc. (BMSI) values the safety and security of you and your family - Safety is our first priority.

Our Flotation Process Operators support, and where required lead, critical functions related to operation of the barite concentrator facility in Buchans by managing flotation circuits and contributing to in-house troubleshooting and training initiatives, especially those related to flotation issues and Occupational Health and Safety and Setting (OHSE).

Responsibilities Summary

nReporting to the Site Manager your responsibilities will typically include:n

· Delivery of consistent and stable results in terms of concentrate grades and recoveries in interaction with other team members

n

· Monitoring and controlling the Mill circuit including flotation, grinding and gravity concentrating to achieve maximum throughput and target specification for concentrate production

n

· Monitoring, assessing and correcting internal key performance indicators of a flotation circuit

n

· Monitor process and fire water systems, immediately reporting any malfunctions

n

· Monitor reagent delivery and addition systems and air systems

n

· Monitor feed and concentrate thickener performance and make adjustments in consultation with the team

n

· Operate the drum filter to produce a barite concentrate filter cake and in times, operate the dryer to fill the loading silo.

n

· Filling and ensuring accuracy of required log sheets

n

· Conduct thorough and accurate shift hand-overs

n





· Ensuring safe and adequate operation of equipment and supporting delivery of all Maintenance activities related to the flotation circuits and related processes

n

· Maintenance of high housekeeping and safety standards

n

· Actively maintaining communication with all departments

n

· Compliance to OHSE requirements and reporting/correcting defects and unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

n· Must have minimum five (5) years Mill operating experience including Flotationn

· Valid driver’s license (can be a Learners Permit)

n

· Grade 12 diploma or equivalent preferred

n

· Must be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces

n

· Ability to perform tasks that require strength and stamina in extreme weather conditions

n

· A team player that works well with others

n

· Good oral and written communication skills

n

This position is located in Buchans, NL on a 10 days on, 4 days off, 9 nights on, 5 days off schedule.

n

All BMSI employees must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Further, upon joining BMSI, you may be subject to testing in accordance with our Alcohol and Drug Policy.

All BMSI employees will be required to provide a clear Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP, within two weeks of employment.
