Description The Fort Frances Times is seeking a full time, on-site reporter/staff writer to join our four-person editorial team. Please note: this position is not remote and requires physical presence in Fort Frances, Ontario.

We are especially interested in hiring a candidate from the local Indigenous community to strengthen our coverage and connection to the Rainy River District. Indigenous applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities: Cover local news, events and community stories throughout the Rainy River District.

Qualifications

- Strong writing and photography skills
n
- Knowledge of CP Style
n
- A diploma or degree in journalism, or commensurate experience, is a strong asset
n
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, an asset
n
- Ability to meet daily deadlines
n
- Outgoing personality, strong people skills, and team-oriented
n
- Excellent communication skills
n
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
n
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and flexible availability
