Position: Social Media Specialist
n

nReports To: Director, Marketing (Abbotsford)n
POSITION SUMMARY:
nAs an integral member of Canucks Sports and Entertainment (CSE)’s social media team, the Social Media Specialist will be responsible for leading the publishing of social media content on Abbotsford Canucks & Rogers Forum primary social channels including but not limited to Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram. This role is responsible for day-to-day social coverage both at home and on the road for the Abbotsford Canucks, including video, photo, and written content across all Abbotsford Canucks social channels and Abbotsford.Canucks.com, as well as supports Rogers Forum during events and concerts.n
As a member of the Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CSE)’s social media team, the Specialist, Social & Content will be based out of the Rogers Forum, with occasional travel included in the role as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Build the social media plan and be responsible for the tone of voice across Abbotsford Canucks and Rogers Forum channelsn
n
- Manage the social media calendars for the Abbotsford Canucks and Rogers Forumn
n
- Lead publishing & planning on the Abbotsford Canucks & Rogers Forum primary social media platforms including Facebook (+ Facebook Stories), X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram (+ Instagram Stories); support publishing and strategy on Abbotsford Canucks & Rogers Forum secondary social media platforms.n
n
- Work alongside the social, content,
and design teams to ensure all produced content is strategically optimized for each social media platform; utilize software such as Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Cloud and Slate, among others to edit and publish social media content and posts; shoot mobile video and post engaging video content to social channels; post content on social media and the Abbotsford Canucks website using the content management systemn

- Support storylines and team narratives with social-specific content, such as strong copy, photos, and video, to enhance the Abbotsford Canucks’ and CSE’s other social media accountsn
n
- Act as the bridge between Abbotsford Canucks players and the social media team, capturing player-related social media content as requiredn
n
- Perform the role with an 'always on' approach to social media, constantly monitoring and engaging current content trends and best practices; be plugged into the Abbotsford Canucks and hockey social conversation, keeping a finger on the pulse of what Abbotsford Canucks fans are talking about; lead 1-1 fan engagement and responses to social media postingsn
n
- Work all Abbotsford Canucks team events including practices, home and away games, community events, and corporate partnership activations, cover and report on all Abbotsford Canucks games throughout the seasonn
n
- Support key Rogers Forum Events as needed, and post content in support of events and concerts at the Abbotsford Centren
n
- Be involved with the ideation and execution of all social media content related to Corporate Partner commitments; work cross-functionally with colleagues in the Community, Corporate Partnerships, Ticketing, Retail, and People departments to support their business objectives across social median
n
nREQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:n
n
- A relevant degree or diploma such as Marketing, Communications or Journalismn
n
- At least three years of social media related work experience in Journalism or Communicationsn
n
- Strong writing and editing skills, as well as strong mobile photo and video skills
n
- In depth knowledge of the Abbotsford Canucks team and brandn
n
- Creative thinker with quick wit and ability to read and react to situationsn
n
- General understanding of website CMS systemsn
n
- Experience with Photoshop and familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite programs including Premieren
n
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and work odd and unpredictable hoursn
n
