We value collaboration, accountability, respect, and enjoyment in our work each day. Job Details The Recreation & Parks department is looking forward to another great year of Summer Day Camps, delivering 95-day camps to over 1800 children ages 4–12 in July and August.
Canada Day events are also supported by Recreation Leaders.
The City of St.
Albert is recruiting individuals to join our Recreation & Parks department as Recreation Leader 2 – Camp Leaders. Reporting to Recreation Program Coordinators, these positions will be responsible for developing and leading fun, safe, and inclusive day camps at Servus Place, City of St.
Albert clubhouses, and various outdoor park and playground spaces throughout the City. Qualifications Currently in Grade 12 or pursuing/completed post-secondary education. Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C with AED certifications are required prior to starting. Experience planning, leading and supervising activities with children. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. HIGH FIVE ®PHCD and NCCP FMS Certifications are considered assets. Responsibilities Lead and support a variety of recreation activities, including sports, biking, cooking/baking, skating, archery, arts and crafts, preschool-aged activities,
outdoor recreation, and themed programs (e.g., Taylor Swift and digital games).
Leaders are paired with camps based on availability and activity interest. Plan, prepare, and deliver age- and stage-appropriate activities using both structured and unstructured recreation approaches. Collaborate with a co-leader to design and implement daily program plans. Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants. Adapt activities to meet the interests, abilities, and developmental needs of participants. Support positive skill development, teamwork, and participation through recreation programming. Drop-in Inflatable supervision shifts and Bouncing Birthday Party supervision shifts may be available supervising participants on the inflatables on evenings and weekends. Hours of Work Weekday shifts between 8:15am-4:45pm (up to 44 hours per week). Compensation The wage ranges from $17.99 - $21.91 per hour based on qualifications and experience. Term Summer employment term is June 17- August 26, 2026, including Canada Day. Conditions of Employment The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and skilled credentials.
The successful applicant will be required to obtain a clear vulnerable sector police information check.
