Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Perform general duty cooking at the Day Care Centres maintaining high standards of quality food preparation, which meets the nutritional needs of the children as per the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and Canada Food Guide. Maintains the health standards of the Centre as set out by the Medical Officer of Health.

EDUCATION

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; plus
- Additional courses in cooking or nutrition preferred.
- Must possess Safe Food Handling Certificate.

KNOWLEDGE

- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in food preparation in direct, institutional environment.

SKILLS

- Must possess knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling, storage and safekeeping.
- Must be able to adjust menus as required.
- Must be aware of safety and fire regulations.
- Must possess a transparent understanding of the Canada Food Guide.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

- In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
- Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices,



work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons.
- Must meet and maintain requirements in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014; health assessment and proof of current records of immunizations as recommended by the Medical Officer of Health.
