Canada Summer Job, Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Exeter Canada Summer Jobs Position - (OPSEU) Exeter, Ontario (South Huron Zone) Full-Time, Contract ( 8 weeks, to end by Aug 30, 2026 ) This posting is the result of an existing vacancy.

Application Deadline: May 8, 2026 Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is a federal program committed to help young people gain employment information, skills and experience.

This program aims to support young people, particularly those from communities facing barriers to employment, as they transition into the labour market.

Performs duties and responsibilities utilizing psychosocial rehabilitation principles and practices to maximize the recovery of individuals accessing services.

Through a varied program of structured and unstructured activities, groups, educational opportunities as well as one to one approaches, at times within a Hub model setting, this role helps individuals access the skills, support, and encouragement often required to find a sense of stability, wellness, and meaningful community engagement.

This role will provide safe, welcoming spaces for rapid engagement, access to information, and from which to explore outward into the community at large.

Consider making a difference in your community by joining our team! WHAT WE''RE OFFERING: What you''ll be making -$17.60per hour When you''ll work - This position is 35 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks.

Must be available to work shifts between the hours of 8:30am to4:30pm.

Schedule will be predominately Monday to Friday, but some after-hours, weekend or public holiday shifts may be required Your pension plan - Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) HOW YOU WILLBE MAKINGA DIFFERENCE: Coordinate social recreational activities as directed by staff Coach, support and encourage participation by persons with serious mental illness in social and recreational activities and the maintenance of the Exeter Site facility Work with and supervise individuals in the preparation of meals at the Exeter Site facility Assist and supervise with daily living skills as needed in the houses Support individuals with vocational experiences at Exeter Site Identify, assess, respond to and as necessary, report to identified supervisory staff, any emergency situations concerning person(s) or property as per Exeter Site procedures Complete all assigned documentation Wellness and Prevention: Be available to provide walk-in support during set business hours within a Hub Model setting to ensure rapid engagement Provide mental health support, linkages, answer general enquiries,



provide information and referrals, system navigation, form support and basic needs resources for walk-in support Using wellness approaches to recovery, develop and implement both group and individual programs that address the Social Determinants of Health to promote optimal health and well-being Facilitate programming that encourages the development of self-determination and the empowerment of the individual Monitor, assess, and provide feedback regarding individuals recovery-oriented goals, both to the individual and to internal and external team members Explore and promote consumer-led activities by identifying and supporting individuals to assume leadership roles Identify opportunities and partnerships that contribute to the community integration and recovery of individuals; contribute to the development of program proposals to support community development initiatives Assessment and Goal Planning: Assess individuals strengths, abilities, needs and preferences Assess social and environmental factors impacting the individual, and any vulnerability and risk factors Ensure OCANs are completed and reviewed according to policy Include and encourage individuals natural supports (e.g. family, significant friends) in goal planning, clarifying the roles each plays towards individuals rehabilitation Regularly solicit feedback from the individual and relevant community supports regarding individuals mental health and progress towards their goals WHAT YOU''LL NEED TO APPLY: Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.

For candidates who require a request letter in order to apply for a police check, request letters will be provided for candidates that move forward from the interview stage of the recruitment process.

We require the following qualifications: Canada Summer Jobs requirements: Will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment Area Canadian citizen, permanent resident,



or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and am legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. (Note: International students are not eligible.

Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.) Post-secondary education completed or in progress within social services, mental health and/or addictions Valid Drivers License and Access to a vehicle Ability to attend work regularly Current, satisfactory

Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) We prefer the following qualifications: Insurance adequate for transporting clients First Aid/CPR Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation concepts and applications Knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation principles and practices Knowledge of current psychiatric treatment practices, crisis and suicide intervention skills training, and community resources Demonstrated ability to work with individuals who live with multiple challenges related to marginalization, mental illness, substance use, complex health challenges, poverty, homelessness, abuse, and trauma Excellent organizational and time management skills Effective communication skills with diverse populations Good working knowledge of computer office technology such as word-processing, spreadsheets, database records, internet and e-mail resources, etc. and ability to perform basic financial and documentation requirements related to activities and programs Solid written and oral communication skills Ability to recognize and guide potential conflict situations Bilingual in both official languages, preferred; Une prfrence sera accorde aux personnes possdant des comptences dans les deux langues officielles du Canada Get your application in by May 8, 2026: Our recruitment process allows us to learn about your previous work experience, your qualifications and your commitment to fulfilling our vision.
