Reports to: Associate Director, Business Development

Work Time:

- Up to 20 hours per week (as needed) from April 20th until June 26th
- Up to 40 hours per week from June 26th to August 31st

Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Camp Director, the Assistant Camp Director is responsible for administrative tasks and day-to-day operational support to ensure a safe, positive, and well-organized camp environment for both campers and staff.

This role manages camper and staff concerns as they arise, resolving conflicts with professionalism and care. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the senior staff, supporting staff development initiatives, and supervising/evaluating staff performance to maintain high standards of programming and camper experience.

Working closely with the Camp Director, the Assistant Camp Director collaborates on planning, problem-solving and strategic decision making. This role also requires an ability to effectively communicate with parents to address questions and concerns.

The Assistant Camp Director will assist in expense reporting,



budgeting, and ensuring smooth administrative operations throughout the camp season. Other duties as required. This position requires adaptability and a desire for personal growth. S/he will assist with implementing and monitoring health and safety protocols in accordance with Public Health policies. Successful applicants over the age of 18 will need to provide a Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. This role begins at $25.00/hour.

General Responsibilities:

- Support the Camp Director in planning, delivery, and administration for a small and growing summer camp operation.
- Completing interviews, hiring, and onboarding staff members together with the Camp Director.
- Oversee the Camp Coordinators and assist them in meeting their goals.
- Collaborate with staff training and evaluation.
- Assist the Camp Director in communicating with families to answer questions, ease concerns, and ensure a positive experience.
- Help the youth in their care to have a safe, inclusive, and memorable experience.
- Collaborate with colleagues to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Ability to work non-traditional business hours (as required).
- Assist in the set-up/take-down of camp and weekly turnover to various user groups.
- Contribute to implementing all health and safety protocols on-site (as assigned).
- Report on all safety concerns and equipment issues promptly to the Camp Manager and/or Camp Director.
- Assist in other duties as requested by the Camp Director/Camp Manager.





Qualifications:

- Ages 18+
- Experience working with youth in a professional setting
- Experience with Camp Brain and Docusign softwares is considered an asset
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) or willing to obtain
- Completes Scouts Canada screening processes including a transparent Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (if 18+)
- Embodies personal beliefs in keeping with the Mission, Principles and Practices of Scouts Canada
- Willing to train in accessibility and inclusion to meet all participants’ needs
- Able to support youth with difficult challenges and seek support from other staff when needed
- Proven leadership, teamwork, planning and administrative abilities
- Strong communication and customer service skills
