The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Regional Commander of West Region is seeking a qualified individual to join our team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide operational and administrative support to the Chatsworth location.
This competition will be used to fill Regular and Temporary vacancies in both the Chatsworth and Wiarton locations.
Please note: This position requires the ability to work a schedule that includes evenings, overnights, and weekends.

About the job
What can I expect to do in this role?
The Detachment DOC (civilian) position provides balanced administrative and operational support within a policing environment, supporting uniform members and supervisors under established direction and supervision. The role includes managing documentation, supporting court and disclosure processes, maintaining records in internal systems, and assisting with information flow across the detachment. The successful applicant can expect a structured, fast-paced work environment requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professionalism. Regular interaction with officers, supervisors, and partner units is a core component of the position.
This permanent role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to frontline operations while developing expertise within police administrative processes.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
- Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation;
- 40 w.p.m typing speed;
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts in a 24-hour rotating shift setting.
Administrative and Computer Skills
- Knowledge of computer operation and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and RMS/CPIC, to produce court documents, type correspondence, and manage data.
- Knowledge of records management practices record keeping technology to maintain an organized, up-to-date records system.
- Ability to work in accordance with established manuals, practices and procedures.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact with officers, and members of the public.
- Strong written communication skills to input accurate information, compose correspondence, proofread a variety of documents, compile reports, and summarize information.
- Ability to transcribe audiotapes with accuracy.
Problem Solving and Decision-Making Skills
- Strong reasoning and problem solving skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritize administrative work on a daily basis.
- Demonstrated discretion, tact and diplomacy when responding to enquiries over the phone and counter.
