Description

The Fort Frances Times is seeking a full-time, on-site reporter/staff writer to join our four-person editorial team. Please note: this position is not remote and requires physical presence in Fort Frances, Ontario.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your journalism career at an independent, locally focused newspaper serving Northwestern Ontario.

We are especially interested in hiring a candidate from the local Indigenous community to strengthen our coverage and connection to the Rainy River District. Indigenous applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities: Cover local news, events and community stories throughout the Rainy River District.

Qualifications





- Strong writing and photography skills
- Knowledge of CP Style
- A diploma or degree in journalism, or commensurate experience, is a strong asset
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, an asset
- Ability to meet daily deadlines
- Outgoing personality, strong people skills, and team-oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and flexible availability
