Anishnawbe G’Zhiitoonegamic (A’Gic), meaning “Peoples Place of Building”, is an indigenous women-led social enterprise located at 300 Archer Drive in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The enterprise offers a transformative solution to the housing crisis facing Indigenous and Northern communities. Emerging from the Keepers of the Circle and grounded in Indigenous values – A’Gic provides low-carbon, energy-efficient modular homes that are not only affordable and climate-resilient but also culturally grounded and community-informed.
Summary of Position
The Millwright and Maintenance Technician reports to the General Plant Manager and works within a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment. This position supports factory operations, equipment maintenance, and production departments to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position based on-site in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and may require flexibility during commissioning, ramp-up, or maintenance periods. The starting salary will be determined based on experience, and the start date for this position will be discussed further during the interview process.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Industrial Maintenance, Millwright (433A), Instrumentation Mechanical Technician, or a related trade.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment.
- Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical and production equipment.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
- Robust problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in an Indigenous workplace and knowledge of Indigenous cultures and communities is considered a strong asset.
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Support equipment commissioning, start-up, and production ramp-up activities.
- Execute and maintain a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose equipment issues and perform timely repairs to ensure operational continuity.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to support manufacturing goals.
