Plumbing Service Foreman

Chisholm Industries Ltd. is a well-established Alberta-based mechanical contractor with nearly 50 years of experience serving commercial, institutional, healthcare, and industrial facilities.

We are seeking a Plumbing Service Foreman to lead field operations across our Service Division. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving technician performance, ensuring high-quality service execution, and maintaining strong customer relationships in commercial and light industrial environments.

This role is best suited for someone who operates as a field leader and problem solver - not just a senior technician or new to field leadership role.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Field Leadership & Technical Execution

- Lead and support plumbing technicians in daily service operations
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across:
- Domestic water systems
- Drainage and sewer systems
- Gas systems
- Backflow prevention
- Boilers and hydronic systems
- Act as escalation point for high-risk or high-value service calls
- Ensure all work meets applicable codes, standards, and company expectations

Service Operations & Productivity

- Support dispatch and prioritize emergency vs scheduled work
- Drive technician utilization, efficiency, and job completion performance
- Ensure crews are properly prepared, routed, and executing effectively
- Identify and correct inefficiencies in real time

Quoting, Small Projects & Scope Control

- Oversee small projects, retrofits, and service work execution
- Support quoting, material takeoffs,



and scope development as required
- Review field-generated quotes to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Identify scope gaps, risks, and margin exposure before execution

Quality Control & Customer Interface

- Perform field quality checks and reduce callbacks
- Act as escalation point for clients, including:
- Property managers
- Facility operators
- Maintenance teams
- Maintain professional communication and manage expectations
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and preventative work

Crew Leadership & Development

- Mentor Plumbers and Apprentices in technical and field execution
- Provide feedback on performance, quality, and development
- Support hiring input and team capability growth

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

- Enforce company safety policies and safe work practices
- Ensure compliance with plumbing codes and inspection requirements
- Maintain documentation for backflow, inspections, and regulatory standards

Financial & Operational Awareness

- Monitor job costing, labor efficiency, and billable performance
- Support margin protection through proper execution and scope control
- Reduce rework, warranty, and callback-related losses

Qualifications

- Red Seal Journeyman Plumber (required)
- Class A Gasfitter Certification (required)
- 3 - 5+ years of Team Lead or Foreman experience (required)
- Strong background in commercial and/or light industrial plumbing services
- Proven ability to diagnose complex systems and lead field execution
- Relevant experience with boilers, hydronics, pumps, and backflow systems etc.
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract

Compensation
$50.00–$58.00/hour
(Higher consideration may be given for exceptional commercial service leadership experience and advanced technical certifications.)

Job Types: Full time, Permanent

Pay: $50.00-$58.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
