The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is recruiting Paid On Call Fire Fighters to join our dynamic and positive team. The next intake for new recruits will be in the summer of 2026, however we are always looking for candidates with fire fighting experience and NFPA certification.

Individuals ready to commit time and service for community well being and safety are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a valuable attitude, teamwork skills, the ability to follow direction and make effective decisions while reacting quickly and calmly in emergent situations, in addition to the qualifications included below.

Paid on call fire fighters attend weekly training (Wednesday nights) and emergency calls on an as needed basis. Due to the unpredictability of calls, hours can greatly vary, but are approximately 2-10 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be eligible for employment in Canada
- Must reside on a permanent basis within the boundaries of the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass by the beginning of recruit training




- Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License in good standing (airbrake endorsement would be considered an asset)
- Must provide an acceptable Vulnerable and Criminal Record Check prior to onboarding
- Must be able to pass a Fire Department physical and medical clearance with a physician
- Can meet the training requirements of one evening (Wednesday) per week and several weekends throughout the year

Previous Fire Fighter training would be an asset, but is not required.

Duties of on call fire fighters may include:

- Carrying, lifting and setting up equipment on scene and for practices;
- Wearing and caring for PPE, including an SCBA;
- Crawling and carrying equipment up/down ladders and in confined spaces;
- Must be able to adhere to the training and emergency response attendance requirements of the department.
