An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join us as Finance Manager within the Naval Defense organization based in Peterborough, ON.
This is a high-profile role that will give you direct exposure to a diverse portfolio of Naval Handling Equipment programs. The incumbent will be expected to fully understand the P&L;, Balance Sheet and cash flow implications of a suite of contracts and will be responsible for the associated site operating costs.
These contracts support a substantial financial inflow to the business, and it is critical that we manage them effectively as they generate significant focus both internally and with our external stakeholders.

Key Duties:
· Understanding source and potential mitigations of major business risks.
· Understanding of project accounting (life cycle; EACs; ETCs).
· Understanding of percentage of completion revenue recognition.
· Ability to generate and understand program profitability analysis.
· Cost tracking, evaluation and mitigation in a complex manufacturing setting.
· Development & generation of KPIs and other business metrics.
· Understanding of basis of calculation and appropriate allocation methodology for shared costs.
· Drive continuous improvement / process improvements / financial efficiency.
· Forecast and manage working capital & cash flows.
· Manage annual budget, 5-year plan and monthly forecast processes.
· Oversight / management of accounting team.
· Training, onboarding and development of staff.
· Handle all internal and external audit requests.
· Collect and report on all required tax information.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for corporate team.
· Work collaboratively with site leaders to generate timely, accurate and relevant data to allow them to make informed business decisions.
· Create and report on other analysis as required (ie. major variances; reasonability analysis; generation of proforma information; performance benchmarking, etc…).
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with 5 + years of experience in Accounting or Finance OR
· Professional designation (CPA) or Master’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with 3+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance
· In order to be considered for this role you must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
· In order to be considered for this role you must obtain Canadian Controlled Goods and Reliability Security Clearance
Preferred Requirements:
· CPA
· Knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
· Previous experience in preparing budgets/forecasting and long range forecasting
· Infor Visual, Hyperion and Power BI knowledge; advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills
