Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Centre Front-line Full Time | Contract/Temporary 2711 Island Hwy W, Qualicum Beach Accessible Employer: Yes Engage with visitors at the Qualicum Beach Visitor Centre and seasonal outreach locations, providing personalized, knowledgeable service. Support the promotion of local businesses, tourism stakeholders, and the area as a preferred travel destination while assisting the Chamber team as needed. ResponsibilitiesGreet visitors professionally, creating a welcoming first impression of Qualicum Beach. Promote local businesses, tourism operators, events, and experiences within Qualicum Beach and the surrounding Oceanside region. Respond to resident and visitor inquiries via phone, email, and in‑person interactions at the Visitor Centre. Create customized travel itineraries highlighting local attractions, accommodations, dining, and outdoor activities. Encourage protected and responsible travel practices while promoting longer stays and repeat visits. Assist with community and stakeholder outreach to maintain up‑to‑date information on local services, hours of operation, and offerings. Maintain and update visitor resources, brochures, and reference materials. Track and report visitor statistics in alignment with Destination BC requirements. Provide general administrative and program support to the Chamber team as needed. QualificationsPost‑secondary education in Tourism, Marketing, Business, or a related field is an asset. Experience in tourism, customer service,



or visitor services is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with social media. Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment while staying goal‑oriented. Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism when engaging with the public and local stakeholders. Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends and evenings during peak tourism seasons. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is considered an asset. This position is paid at a rate of $18.25 per hour. The expected start date is to be determined, with an anticipated commencement in June or July, depending on program approval and operational needs. The contract will be for a maximum of 8 weeks from the start date with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program; applicants must meet all program eligibility requirements. Eligible candidates are between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and are legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
