Job Description

This role focuses on TIG welding in a custom fabrication shop, working primarily on pipes and structural stainless steel components. You will contribute to the fabrication and installation of high-quality, custom-built structures by interpreting blueprints and weld symbols and performing precise welding operations using various processes.

Responsibilities

- Perform high-quality TIG welding on pipes and structural stainless steel components in a custom fabrication environment.
- Use MIG and flux core welding processes when required to complete fabrication and installation work.
- Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to determine welding requirements, dimensions, and specifications.
- Fit, align, and assemble metal components prior to welding to ensure proper dimensions and structural integrity.
- Fabricate and assemble structural and piping components according to project specifications and shop standards.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications, and make adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Work with the installation team to assist with the installation of fabricated components when required.
- Operate and maintain welding and fabrication tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Follow all safety procedures, shop policies, and quality standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and project deadlines.

Essential Skills

- At least 3 years of TIG welding experience, preferably in a custom fabrication shop.
- Proficiency in TIG welding on stainless steel, including pipes and structural components.
- Experience working in a custom fabrication shop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
- Hands-on experience with MIG welding.
- Hands-on experience with flux core welding.
- Demonstrated skill in fitting and fabrication of structural and piping components.
- Ability to support installation of fabricated components when required.
- Solid understanding of welding safety practices and shop safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- No CWB or TSSA certification required for this role.
- Experience with a variety of welding and fabrication tools and equipment.
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy fabrication shop.
- Good problem-solving skills to address fit-up and fabrication challenges.

Work Environment

The role is based in a custom fabrication shop with approximately 40 people, providing a collaborative and team-oriented atmosphere. The facility is well ventilated and air-treated to support a comfortable working environment while performing welding and fabrication tasks. You will work with TIG, MIG, and flux core welding equipment, as well as standard fabrication tools and machinery. The regular shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering a consistent daytime schedule.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beamsville, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
