BASIC CUSTODIAN

We are accepting applications for the following permanent full-time, 1.0 FTE Basic Custodian position at Elma Township Public School (Atwood, ON).

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with a minimum ½ hour lunch break for a total of 8.5 hours

per day, 12 months per year, shift work is involved

Start Date: As soon as possible

Rate of Pay: $26.10-$26.59 in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement

The Basic Custodian duties may include:

Building Maintenance

- change lights
- shovel snow
- operate snow blower
- clean and inspect roof
- operate grass cutting equipment
- perform minor repairs
- conduct health and safety checks
- service roof top unit

Building Cleaning

- operate and maintain all equipment
- perform all minor and major cleaning

The ideal candidate should possess:

- the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
- mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
- exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
- the ability to use a computer e.g. GAFE;
- experience in handling machinery i.e. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
- knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
- satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position.

Note - A criminal background check will be part of the recruitment process.
