This role establishes and maintains performance and productivity metrics, cost management processes and the P&L.; The Landfill Operations Manager reports directly to this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

n

Manages the District’s day-to-day operations and provides daily support to Operations Managers in ensuring safety, service, and savings.

n

Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations.

n

Ensures thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following up with consistent coaching and retraining.

n

Oversees department personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Manages termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

n

Formulates short-term and long-term goals and action plans in conjunction with the Area Director of Disposal, Operations.

n

Participates in regular P&L; reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.

n

Interacts with local city, municipal, and county agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts; establishes WM as a good corporate citizen and valued resource.

QualificationsnEducation and Experience

n

Education: Associate's Degree (accredited); or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and two (2) years relevant work experience required.

n

Experience: 4 years in a role with supervisory and/or P&L; responsibility (in addition to education requirements) required.

n

Preferred: Management/leadership experience in technical and operation environments

n

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

n





Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

n

Must be able to maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record throughout the duration of employment in this position

n

Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

n

Experience in a position involving at least 2 of the following: operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resource function, experience as a supervisor or manager; experience implementing safety (OSHA) programs and equipment specifications, experience preparing and managing budgets, and experience resolving labor relations issues required.

n

Proven success in managing teams through change.

CompensationnThe expected base pay range for this position across Canada is $115,000 - $120,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for bonus.
