Join the Island Gold District team and be a part of the long-life mining operations, as we prioritize our employee growth, high performance and a culture of safety and accountability.Role Overview/Purpose:Reporting to the Environmental Manager or designate, the Environmental Supervisor (ES) is an office and field position based at the Island Gold District (IGD).
This position will provide leadership to environmental staff coordinators and technicians, coordinate environmental initiatives and support environmental and operations monitoring. The ES will be responsible for the implementation of the IGD compliance n programs as well as the environmental management system.The ES is responsible for the continuous identification, evaluation, prioritization, and management of environmental risks—such as chemical spills, air and water pollution, hazardous waste, and habitat disruption—while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

This is achieved through the development, implementation, monitoring, and ongoing improvement of a cost-effective and efficient environmental management system.Primary Responsibilities:

- Lead a team of coordinators and technicians to meet the obligations of the site permits
n
- Lead the optimization and execution of environmental monitoring programs, covering key areas such as air and water quality, noise levels, waste management, and biodiversity.
n
- Maintain and enhance the IGD Environmental Management System, ensuring compliance with Corporate and government standards.
n
- Oversee ongoing environmental data collection initiatives and manage internal systems for accurate and productive data handling.
n
- Advise operational teams and contractors on the interpretation and application of environmental policies, procedures, and management systems.
n
- Ensure adherence to all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, permits, and project requirements.
n
- Respond promptly to environmental incidents, such as spills, to minimize impacts and ensure compliance with emergency response protocols. Ensure all reporting is complete in a timely manner to regulatory agencies and stakeholders

- Coordinate with external environmental consultants for ongoing operational data collection and specialized assessments and studies.
n
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation accurately and within required timelines.
n
- Act as the primary liaison with municipal, provincial, and federal regulatory bodies, as well as with local communities and other stakeholders.

- Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the environmental team.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
n

- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in environmental roles, preferably within the mining sector, with at least 3-4 years in a senior or advisory capacity.
n
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Environmental or Natural Sciences or related disciplines preferred.
n
- Proven critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, ensuring timely and cost-effective outcomes.
n
- Strong sense of accountability, with the capability to execute tactical tasks aligned with broader operational and closure strategies.
