FAMILY ACTIVITY CENTRE FACILITATOR – LANGUAGE SKILLS (student)n
HOURS OF WORK
Variable up to 36.25 hours per weekn
LOCATION
Upper Canada Village (11 km east of Morrisburg)n
SALARY
$18.45 per hourn
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT
June to August 2026n
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?
- Be a representative of one of Morrisburg’s premium and internationally recognized tourism sites.
- Welcome guests to the Family Activity Centre at Upper Canada Village in English and French, orient them to the Centre, explain and animate the exhibits within the Centre and provide a variety of historical workshops and demonstrations using crafts, music, drama, games, tools and historical costumes.
- Assist with camp counsellor duties as required.
- Assist with school programs in May, June and September as required.
- Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor.
- Embody the SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
- Linguistic skills in English and French.
- The ability to communicate well with guests and, in particular, children.
- The ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead workshops and to explain and demonstrate a wide range of historical activities such as crafts, music, games and tools.
- Knowledge of 19th century Ontario history.
- The ability to learn historical information, policies and procedures associated with the Family Activity Centre and Upper Canada Village.
- The ability to assist with other tasks associated with the Family Activity Centre such as obtaining supplies,
cleaning and research related to visitor questions and recent activity centres.
- The ability to wear a modern uniform.
- A valid emergency first aid certificate or the ability to obtain one.
- The ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, guest and fellow staff safety is maintained at all times.
A vulnerable service sector check is required for this position.n

À QUOI PUIS-JE M’ATTENDRE À CE POSTE?
- Agir comme représentant(e) de l’un des principaux sites touristiques de Morrisburg, reconnus internationalement;
- Accueillir les visiteurs au Centre d’activités familiales à Upper Canada Village, en anglais et en français, les orienter, leur expliquer les expositions et en animer des activités, en plus d’offrir divers ateliers et démonstrations à caractère historique au moyen de bricolages, de musique, de théâtre, de jeux, d’outils et de costumes d’époque;
- Faciliter le travail des animateurs et animatrices de camps d’été au besoin;
- Aider aux animations des groupes scolaires en mai, juin et septembre;
- Travailler de façon sécuritaire en tout temps et signaler immédiatement les situations dangereuses à votre superviseur.
- Agir conformément aux principes d’équité, de diversité et d’inclusion de la CPSL lors des échanges avec le personnel et la clientèle.
