Job Responsibilities:
nThe Occupational Health Nurse - Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health Claims, plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe and effective workplace environment. Committed to adhering to the organizational legislation and the policies, they contribute significantly to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace for employees. In collaboration with HR and Business units, this role actively supports the health and well-being of employees and proactively managing and implementing occupational health services and programs.n
n
- Provides primary care and assessments for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illness.
n
- Implements care plans with follow-up nursing care and referrals.
n
- Provides case management of short-term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims.
n
- Facilitates early and safe return to work and maintains effective incident injury/illness reporting procedures.
n
- Facilitate in appeals process with WSIB.
n
- Maintain and ensure compliance with all health & safety standards, education and required paperwork.
n
- Conduct periodic training, including but not limited to first aid, CPR, health & wellness,
and other related areas.
n
- Interprets and promotes compliance with government legislation.
n
- Providing on-site employee health nursing care, immunizations, and health counselling
n
- Participates in occupational health and safety maintenance.
n
- Ability to travel with Ontario for meetings and plant visits.
n
nRequirements:n
n
- Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BScN preferred.
n
- Strong knowledge and understanding of WSIB process.
n
- Knowledge and understanding of CNESST process.
n
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
n
- 3 to 5 years of occupational health experience preferred.
n
- Ability to handle work with sensitive issues and protect confidentiality of medical information.
n
- Ability to deal with mental health claims/situation.
n
- Sound judgement in the application of nursing and safety principles Knowledge of health and safety procedures, as well as occupational wellness programs.
n
- Ability to do electronic charting and database entry using Parklane Systems
n
- Computer skills and the ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
n
- Current COHN certificate preferred 3 to 5 years of occupational health experience (Asset)
n
- Bilingual (French) an asset
n
- Experience in a unionized environment as an asset.
