What you will do:
Reporting to the Director of Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion (READI), you will work closely with the Accessibility Advocate, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Facilitates the scheduling of meetings, including sending invites, preparing and circulating meeting agendas, taking and circulating minutes and tracking action items related to accessibility initiatives. When working with external partners, organizes logistics, sends reminders,
and supports participants in accessibility consultations.
- Provides excellent customer service by monitoring and organizing shared inbox. Drafting template responses for recurring requests, flagging issues for escalation to determine appropriate action.
- Reviews internal and public-facing materials for accessibility (e.g., contrast, plain language, alt text, registration details), ensuring Word, PDF, and PowerPoint files meet accessibility standards (e.g., heading structure, alt text, tagging).
- Supports the processing of invoices as well as honoraria and other forms of compensation for community members and contributors engaged in accessibility initiatives.
- Coordinates information for online content, e-newsletters, drafts and edits articles and social media campaigns as needed.
- Supports AODA compliance record keeping. Eg. Log and track feedback from community members or staff, including resolution status.
- Maintains shared folders containing compliance tracking, policies, templates, training materials, and reference guides, etc. Ensures that all information is current, accessible, and properly formatted.
- Investigates low-cost or innovative assistive technologies to recommend for programs or service improvements.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of local disability organizations, advocates, and accessibility service providers.
- Draft and distribute a monthly or quarterly newsletter featuring accessibility updates, resources, and events.
- Supports research of products/resources and development of reports and presentation materials.
What you will bring:
- An equivalent combination of living/lived experience, education, training, and work experience will be considered. Living/lived experience as a person with a disability, caregiver, or advocate in accessibility, equity, or inclusion contexts is recognized as a valuable asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accessibility principles and standards (such as AODA, WCAG) is required, whether gained through professional roles, volunteer work, or personal living/lived experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in administrative, coordination, customer service or program support roles, preferably in an accessibility, equity, inclusion, or related government setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of various related legislation including the Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Ontario Health and Safety Act, and the Employment Standards Act
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Critical analysis expertise and living/lived experience with regard to the intersections of systemic oppressions and the elimination of identity-based barriers and inequities is considered an asset.
- Ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships and create feedback loops to inform direction of work and initiatives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills along with the ability to handle changing priorities and fluctuating volumes of work.
- Strong attention to detail, organization and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
- Ability to work effectively in a team workplace.
- Experience working in an environment that requires a high political acuity.
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with confidential issues.
- Advanced computer skills including MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

What we will require:
- A Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City.
- Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualification, if applicable.
- Ability and willingness to travel between worksites and meeting locations, as necessary, utilizing reliable, safe and efficient methods of transportation is required to perform the job.
